There is a hopeful quality in what Sterling says which makes me feel nostalgic and disappointed.
It is from the time I grew up, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at its hope, its appreciation of some appreciation of some progress, and a simplicity in expression of a solution -- which failed to arise.
The 'social scientist' in me can note the lack of analysis, that is often a feature the optimistic post WWII and post immigrant mind set.
But the human at me wishes it were more true.
